Swimmers at Carlton Forum Swimming Club compete at all different levels, depending on their age, experience and qualifying times. Not all swimmers will compete at the same level at the same time and progression through competitions happens gradually.
Competition opportunities may include:
- Club Championships – open to all club swimmers
- Galas – team-based, invite-only competitions
- Open Meets – individual competitions entered by parents
- County Championships – qualification-based competitions
- Midlands Championships – higher-level qualification-based competitions
- National Championships – the highest level of competitive swimming
As swimmers develop, they may progress from club-level racing to open meets and where qualifying times are achieved, county, regional (Midlands) and national competitions.
Progression through competition levels is influenced by:
- Official race times
- Consistency and race experience
- Coach recommendations
Not all swimmers will compete at every level and that is completely normal. The focus is always on long-term development, enjoyment and confidence, rather than rushing progression.
Coaches will advise swimmers and parents on appropriate competition opportunities and when a swimmer may be ready to progress to the next level.
