Galas are team-based competitions that take place throughout the year and are invite only. Swimmers may be asked to compete to represent and support the club against other swimming clubs.
Galas are held at a variety of leisure centres and typically take place on Saturday evenings.
When selected, swimmers are entered into events by the club, with coaches choosing races that are best suited to the swimmer’s strengths and the overall needs of the team. This helps ensure swimmers are racing in events where they can perform confidently and contribute positively to the team.
Galas are a great opportunity for swimmers to:
- Gain valuable racing experience
- Achieve personal bests (PBs)
- Develop team spirit and confidence
Swimmers earn points for the club based on their race placings, with the aim of outscoring other clubs and competing for an overall team trophy at the end of the season.
