Information for Swimmers
Swimmers should wear club hats whenever representing the club, these are available free at the start of each year, and will be given to you at the first gala you swim after you renew your membership. Club costumes are also available, and can be purchased from the club shop on a tuesday evening.
We also recommend that you bring a t-shirt and shorts, or a club tracksuit (also available, or available to order, at tuesday training) to keep warm on the poolside when you're not swimming, as the only warm-up you get is at the start of the gala, and it is important to keep your muscles warm and supple, to avoid injuries.
You should always bring a non-fizzy drink (of at least 750ml) to every gala, this is very important as it helps to keep you hydrated. If you suffer from cramp at training or galas, try adding a pinch of salt to your drink (not too much!), this can help because when you undergo strenuous physical activity, you can lose salt and minerals (electrolytes) through sweating, which makes you much more susceptible to getting cramp.
