Open Meets are swimming competitions available to any swimmer who has achieved the necessary qualifying times for their events. You normally need to enter these meets yourself as the club will not be entering a team. Many meets are “first come first served” so you may need to get an entry in quickly, definitely before the cut-off date. All local Open Meets will be highlighted in this area with links to information on the meet. If you need PB’s to assess qualifying times then see Graham Lindley. Note that some Open Meets (evening sessions) can clash with club events – under normal circumstances you would be expected to swim for the club in these cases.
Some Sprint Open meets such as Falcon and Leander may not require qualifying times. These are excellent meets for less experienced swimmers and the club will sometimes sponsor an event and enter a team of swimmers of all abilities. Information on these meets can be found on the website and also on the Club noticeboard.
See the Fixtures section for dates of meets that Carlton Forum swimmers are likely to enter.
Nova swimmers: NOTE that you will enter some of these meets under Nova Centurion and not the club. If you want more information on Nova entries see your Nova coach.
If you want to know more about Open Meets generally you can speak to Graham Linley or Jo Hunt..
A full list of Licensed Open Meets can be found on the main ASA website.
If you are swimming a long course (50m pool) meet then you may need to do time conversions from 25m pool and vice versa. To do this you will need to use the ASA Equivalent Performance Tables and these can be found on the ASA website.
